Nilsagar Express (Train No. 753) runs the Dhaka–Nilphamari route, serving the Rangpur division of northern Bangladesh. Named after "Nil Sagar" (Blue Ocean), the ancient historical pond and archaeological site in Nilphamari district, this train serves some of the most economically important agricultural regions of Bangladesh — the tobacco, wheat, and vegetable-growing districts of the greater Rangpur zone. The journey covers approximately 400 kilometres and is one of the longer intercity runs in Bangladesh, passing through Sirajganj, Bogura, Rangpur city, and Saidpur before terminating at Nilphamari. Saidpur on this route is notable as the site of Saidpur Airport and Bangladesh Railway's Saidpur Workshop — one of the largest railway maintenance facilities in the country.

Nilsagar Express is named after a large ancient pond in Nilphamari district believed to date back to the Pala dynasty era — a reflection of the deep historical heritage of Bangladesh's northern regions. The train serves the Rangpur corridor, which has historically been one of Bangladesh's most economically active agricultural zones. The route also passes through Saidpur, a town with significant historical importance due to its railway workshop established during the British colonial period, making the Nilsagar Express journey as much a journey through Bangladesh's railway history as through its geography.
