Bangladesh Railway has launched a revised and faster schedule for the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar Express train service effective from March 1, 2026. The updated timetable reduces the total journey time from approximately 11 hours to under 9 hours, thanks to infrastructure improvements on the Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar section of the newly completed railway line. This marks a significant milestone for tourism in the Cox’s Bazar region and makes rail travel a genuinely competitive alternative to domestic flights and long-distance bus services.

Under the new schedule, Train No. 795 (Cox’s Bazar Express) will depart from Kamalapur Railway Station, Dhaka at 7:30 AM and arrive at Cox’s Bazar Railway Station at 4:15 PM. The return service, Train No. 796, will depart Cox’s Bazar at 8:00 PM and arrive in Dhaka at 4:45 AM the next morning. New intermediate stops have been added at Feni and Dohazari Junction, providing connectivity to passengers from the Noakhali-Feni-Chittagong corridor. The train will feature Snigdha, Shovan Chair, and Shovan class coaches, with AC Berth coaches available on the overnight return journey.

Bangladesh Railway officials stated that the faster schedule was made possible by the completion of track upgrades and signaling improvements along the southern corridor. The railway authority has also increased the frequency from four days a week to daily service starting March 15. Tickets for the revised service are already available on eticket.railway.gov.bd. The Cox’s Bazar Express is expected to serve over 1,500 passengers daily and significantly boost domestic tourism to the world’s longest natural sea beach.
